Alma "Marie" Holley

Mt. Sterling, Kentucky

Alma "Marie" Holley, passed away on April 26, 2024, at the age of 94. Marie was born on August 31, 1929 to the late Alfred and Ethel Robbins Pitts in Frenchburg.  She was a devoted homemaker, known for her passion for collecting and dealing antiques, tending to her bountiful vegetable garden, and her unwavering faith in the Christian religion and was known as a devoted prayer warrior. Marie was an active member of Hope First Church of God for an impressive 65 years, finding solace and community in her faith.

 

Marie took great pride in her role as a mother to her three sons, she found immense joy in being a "boy mom" and brought up her sons with love and care. Marie cherished spending time with her family, finding the most happiness in their company. She found a shared love for UK sports, which she enjoyed watching with her loved ones.

 

Marie is survived by her three sons, Phillip Holley (Bessie), Barry Holley (Reva), and Uriah "Skip" Holley (Charity), along with grandchildren Brian Holley (Brandy), Tessa Wells (Lynn), Nikki Holley, and Skylar Holley, along with several great-grandchildren, Liza Holley, Macy Hudson Laswell (Darrin), Hayden Holley, Landon Holley, Jack Holley and Chandler McCoy and her great-great-grandchildren, Wrenley Holley, Jack Laswell and Owen Laswell and her sister Diana Williams, and sister-in-law, Imogene Bashford. Marie's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family members, who will always remember her kind and loving nature.

 

In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Uriah "Junior" Holley and her grandson, Brad Holley, and several siblings, Elsie Ballard (Floyd), Alfred Pitts, Jr., Olema Jackson, Henry Pitts (Sue), and Dottie Vice (Dick), along with her sister-in-law’s, Leoma Maloney (Chester) and Sue Winburn (Bill) and brother-in-law’s, Woody Williams and Bill Bashford.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Hope First Church of God, P.O. Box 404, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353.

 

Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11:00AM.  Visitation is on Wednesday from 6:00PM-8:00PM, both services at the Hope First Church of God.  The burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery.  Pastor Glennis Sizemore will be officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers: Skylar Holley, Jerry Maloney, Billy Winburn, Bobby Ballard, Tim Maloney and Floyd Ballard, Jr.

 

Marie will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched during her lifetime.
