Bernice (Risner) Short

Bernice Risner Short, 82, of Mt. Sterling, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 23, 2021 at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling.  She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on February 6, 1939 to the late George Risner and Lina Risner Howard.

Bernice was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, she was of the Christian faith and was a former employee at A.O. Smith.  She enjoyed; farming, cooking, canning, gardening, pets and she was an avid reader.  She also enjoyed being a housewife, taking care of her family.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Bernice is survived by her loving husband of sixty-five years; Elwood Short; four sons; David Short (Marilyn) of Means, Eddie Short of Stanton, Richard Short (Barbara) of Salt Lick and Randy Short (Tammy) of Mt. Sterling; eleven grandchildren; Joe Short (Jennifer), James Short, Lee Anne Short and eight additional grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; five brothers; Ira Howard of Carlisle, Eddie Howard (Linda) of Jeffersonville, Roscoe Howard of Carlisle, Ernie Risner of Salyersville and Paul Howard (Debbie) of Jeffersonville; two sisters; Louise Booth of Carlisle and Parrot Sapp (Donnie) of  Carlisle; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; companion and friend, her dog, Cody.

In addition to her parents Bernice was preceded in death by five brothers; Marvin Risner, Butch Risner, George Risner,  Dillard Howard, Jr., and Billy Howard.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, November 29, 2021, visitation will be prior from 10:00AM - 12:00PM.  Both will be held at Queen Street Christian Fellowship, 10 North Queen Street, Mt. Sterling.  Committal will follow at Lovely-Amburgey Cemetery, Jeffersonville.  Pastor David Campbell and Pastor Tyler Robbins will be officiating.

Pallbearers: Richard Robbins, Paul Howard, Jeff Murphy, Steve Murphy, Joe Short, James Short, Jeff Haney and Zachary Abernathy.
