Betty Jean Tipton, 88, of Montgomery County, died Saturday morning, September 16, 2017 at Northpoint Healthcare in Lexington. She was born April 21, 1929 in Montgomery County to the late Everett and Zetta Wells Tipton.
Betty was a Montgomery County native, member of the Church of the Nazarene, Montgomery County Senior Citizens, Red Hat Society and Montgomery County Homemakers. She was a seamstress at the Enoch Glove Factory and Cowden Manufacturing where she later retired. She was an avid reader of history and a winner of the Montgomery County High School Spelling Bee. Betty will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her as a beautiful lady and a true friend.
Survivors include; three nieces, Mary Spencer Treadway, Linda Corea and Jennifer Trimble; one nephew, Tim Burns.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Highley, Lucille Spencer Edwards, Delores Burns and Mary Ann Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Montgomery County Senior Citizens, 302 W. Main St, Mt Sterling, KY 40353.
Funeral will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 1:00PM at Queen Street Christian Fellowship. Visitation will be prior from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Private family committal service following the funeral at Machpelah Cemetery. Pastor John Kohr will be officiating.
