Betty Jean Watkins

April 2, 1937 — February 17, 2013

Betty Jean Watkins, 75, of Mt. Sterling, died Sunday morning, February 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born April 2, 1937 in Marshall, Michigan to the late Jesse and Wylma Crow Spindlow.

Betty moved from Hazel Green to Montgomery County 25 years ago. She was a former employee of A. O. Smith where she worked in assembly until her retirement. She was an avid UK basketball fan, adored her Yorkies, enjoyed cooking, working in the yard, and hummingbirds. Betty had a passion for going to yard sales and having yard sales of which she was known for in the community. She loved coffee, hot tea, and storytelling with her family, by whom she will dearly missed.

Survivors include; her son, Curtis Watkins, Jr. (Barbara) of Mt. Sterling; four daughters, Connie Johnson of Mt. Sterling, Cindy Graham (Richard) of Wilmore, Christine Martin of Mt. Sterling, and Marvell Watkins of Mt. Sterling; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson (Jonathan Spencer), Richard Graham III (Tracy), Rebecca Lawson, Matthew Lawson, Michelle Lawson, Jesse Watkins, David Manning, Jr. and Whitney Settle; eight great grandchildren, Ryan Graham, Mason Graham, Joshua Graham, Camron Willoughby, Braxton Smallwood, Alana Smallwood, Bryant Smallwood, and Weston Settle; several nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Watkins; two brothers, Stewart Spindlow and Jim Spindlow.
