Billy Lee Akers, 73, of Frenchburg, died Monday morning, May 16, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 15, 1942 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Mary Floyd Akers and the late Nathaniel Dewey Akers.
Billy had been a resident of Frenchburg for the past thirty-two years coming from Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a member of the Frenchburg Baptist Church and Tarr Ridge Church of God. He honorably served our country in the United States Air Force where he was an airplane mechanic working on B-52 Bombers. Billy had a perfectionist personality and he enjoyed carpentry, gardening, fishing, deer hunting, and hiking.
Survivors include; his wife of thirty-two years, Mary Lou Williams Akers of Frenchburg; his mother, Mary Akers of Dana, KY; three brothers, Ellis Dee Akers (Sherry), Don Akers (Monica) and Tony Akers (Sandy) all of Dana, KY; three sisters, Linda Cecil (Mack) of Sevierville, TN, Brenda Harris (Joe Jack) of Prestonsburg, KY, and Sherry Akers (Saul) of Harold, KY.
