Charles “Ed” Edward Burton of Mt. Sterling, a dedicated husband, father, and long-time employee in the auto glass industry, passed away on October 2, 2024, at the age of 68. Ed was born on August 11, 1956, in Harrodsburg to the late Raymond and Bessie Smith Burton.
Throughout his life, Ed was known for his passion for sports, particularly his unwavering support for the Cincinnati Reds and the Dallas Cowboys. He found joy in simple pleasures like fishing, family cookouts, playing golf, and an avid reader of two newspapers. Ed could often be found working through crossword puzzles or engaging in trivia on WMST radio station. Ed also had a passion for watching WWE Wrestling with his special friend Richard Russell, they also shared a special love for their granddaughter Lizzy.
Starting his working career at a young age at the Corner Store in Harrodsburg, Ed went on to have a successful career as a pre press operator at Pilkington North America, Toyota's Glass factory. A dedicated employee, Ed retired from his long-time position.
Ed was a man of great faith and generosity, always eager to pay it forward and help those in need. He found solace in spending time with his beloved family, whom he cherished above all else.
His love for his wife, Diana Burton, and their shared moments together were the cornerstone of his life, also survived by his children, Jamie Burton Thorpe (Jeff), and Patrick W. Russell; grandchildren, Hadley Groff, Lizzy Russell, ZoeyAnn Thorpe, Sam Russell, and Max Thorpe; Siblings, Joe Burton, and Jack Burton (Bonda); daughter-in-law, Jaclyn Ball Russell; brother-in-law, Steve Williams; sister-in-law, Kim Burton; special nieces, Misti Harrison (J.J.), and Aleia Adkins (Chris), along with numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces, Debborah Black, Danielle Harrison, Kennedi Adkins, and Clarissa Lynn Adkins.
In addition to Ed’s parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Rich Russell; brother, Raymond Burton III; and sister-in-law, Jenny Burton; father & mother-in-law, Ollie and Ruby Whitaker Williams.

Memorial service will be Monday, October 7, 2024, at 7:00pm. Visitation will be prior from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Grace Communion Mt. Sterling Church previously known as Queen Street Christian Fellowship, 10 North Queen Street. Pastor Bill Teegarden will be officiating.
His devotion to his family, his work ethic, and his kind-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ed Burton will be remembered fondly as a loving husband, father, and friend to many. May he rest in peace.
