Charles "Buckeye Bill" Cline, Jr. peacefully passed away on January 23, 2024, at his residence in Mount Sterling, KY. He was born on September 27, 1940, in Dayton, OH, to the late Charles and Wanda Cline. Charles, known to many as Bill, was a loving husband, devoted father, proud veteran, and respected member of his community.
Bill proudly served in the United States Army and attained the rank of SP4 E4 (T) during his service from January 31, 1958, to November 12, 1960. After his honorable discharge, Bill pursued a career in the manufacturing industry, working as a supervisor at A.O. Smith. His dedication and strong work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and made him a key member of the company.
Outside of work, Bill had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed attending car shows, where he could admire the beauty and craftsmanship of these vintage vehicles. He also loved hunting, a hobby he pursued fervently, and had spent many memorable moments in the great outdoors. In his younger days, he found joy in four-wheeling adventures, embracing the thrill of exploration and discovery.
Bill was an avid supporter of the University of Kentucky basketball team, and his enthusiasm for the Wildcats was unrivaled. He relished the victories and endured the defeats, always displaying unwavering loyalty to his beloved team. Bill's other interests included gun collecting and target shooting, activities he shared with his cherished daughter, Carla, forging a special bond through their shared love for marksmanship.
Bill was an active member of Team Life Savers, a group dedicated to representing cancer survivors in Relay for Life events. He was passionate about raising awareness for cancer research and lending support to those facing the challenges of this disease. His commitment to making a difference in the lives of others was a testament to his compassionate nature.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to be cherished by his devoted wife, Linda Cline; his loving daughter, Carla Johnson (Michael); his nieces, Wanda Dimitriou and Cindy Randall; special friend, Rob Elliott and a host of neighbors and friend's that surrounded him with love.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sons, Marc Hess and Charlie Bill Cline; sisters, Shirley Price and Wilma Goudy.
The visitation and funeral service to honor Bills' life will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory. The visitation will begin at 9:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. The burial will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097, at 2:00 pm.
In his memory, the family kindly requests that any donations be made to a cancer research organization of your choice, in support of finding a cure for this devastating disease.
