Mt. Sterling

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles "Eek" Eric Jones, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Born December 11, 1983, in Mt. Sterling, Eric lived his entire life in the community he cherished, where he touched the hearts of many through his passion for music, his love of the arts, and his warm, engaging spirit.

Eric was a landlord, yet his true passions lay beyond the realm of business. A devoted music enthusiast, he spent countless hours honing his craft on the guitar, performing at various venues, and traveling to concerts across the country. His love for music allowed him to meet a multitude of talented musicians, and he treasured the many moments he spent backstage with them as they shared stories and laughter.

In addition to music, Eric had a profound appreciation for classic cars, specifically hotrods and muscle cars. His heart raced at the sight of a vintage motorcycle, with a particular affection for Harley Davidson. A true conversationalist, he delighted in discussing politics and sharing his views passionately with those around him.

Above all, Eric adored his family. He had an especial fondness for his great nephews, Klayton and Kooper, and nurtured those relationships as if they were his own children. His warmth and care for them reflected the deep love he held for family, making a lasting impact on their lives.

Eric is survived by his father, Charles "Chuck" Jones (Elaine Kentner); his sister, Amanada Valandingham; and his cherished niece and nephew, Kayla Taulbee (Dustin Pennington) and Cody Valandingham; great nephews, Klayton Taulbee and Kooper Pennington; special friend, Julie Stamper. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Eric was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Nancy Jones.

A celebration of Eric's life will be held in the coming days. Family and friends are invited to gather to share their memories and honor the legacy of a remarkable man.

In this time of reflection and remembrance, we ask everyone to keep Eric's spirit alive by cherishing the moments they shared with him. He may be gone from our sight, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
