It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles "Ed" Edward Lands, Jr., who left this world on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on May 2, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Charles Sr. and Norma Cronan Lands. Ed spent his life in dedicated service to those he loved and admired, crafting a legacy defined by hard work, passion, and deep connections with family.
A talented carpenter by trade, Ed loved to work with his hands, finding joy in constructing and creating. He was often lost in the details of his latest project, whether it was building models with his beloved son Ricky or working diligently on his cherished Chevy. Those who knew him can attest that there were likely hundreds of completed projects tucked away in storage, each a testament to his skill and dedication.
Ed was also an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, a passion that resonated deeply within him. The loss of his hero in the tragic Daytona crash left a mark on his heart.
Known for his open-minded personality, Ed was a man who spoke his mind and always remained real, never hiding behind a façade. To his friends and family, he was a source of unwavering support, loving fiercely and wholeheartedly those within his circle.
Ed is survived by his son, Ricky Lands; daughter, Melinda Lands (Robert Berry); grandchildren, Cody Stephens (Rayna) and Coltin Stephens (Megan); four great grandchildren; special niece, Celeste Burnett (Lee Jones).
The family will honor Ed's memory with services that will be held at a later date. Details regarding the ceremonies will be shared in the coming weeks.
As we remember Charles "Ed" Edward Lands, Jr., let us carry forward the spirit of his craftsmanship, love, and authenticity, celebrating a life that, though ended, will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
