Charles W. Nibert, Jr. of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Ashland, passed away on July 23, 2021 in Lexington after a long illness. He was born on October 8, 1930 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Charles W. Nibert Sr. and Fay Vickers Nibert.
Charles was a graduate of Huntington East High School and attended Ashland Junior College and Marshall University. He served as a combat infantry decorated soldier in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He retired as a laboratory supervisor from Ashland Inc. in Research and Development.
He was a member of Thirteenth St. Baptist Church in Ashland, a member of Hurricane Road Baptist Church in Ashland and a member of Todd's Road Grace Church in Lexington. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sharron Thornbury Nibert and a sister Billie Hite. Surviving are four children, Sherri (David) Morris and Todd (Lynn) Nibert of Lexington, Susan (Ed) Emrick of Clermont, Florida, and Cynthia (Kevin) Groover of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30AM on Thursday, July 29th at Todd's Road Grace Church at 4137 Todds Road, Lexington, by Pastor Todd Nibert. Visitation will be prior from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. Burial will follow at 3:30PM in Huntington, West Virginia at Woodmere Memorial Park.
