Chester Shepherd, 76, of Mt. Sterling, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Prestonsburg on September 24, 1936 to the late Wilce and Madge Cochran Shepherd.
Chester moved to Montgomery County in 1969, having previously lived in Prestonsburg and Winchester. He was a United States Army Veteran, he worked as an Engineer Associate for Columbia Gas Transmission for 40 years before his retirement. Chester was a devoted member of the First Church of God in Mt. Sterling. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to church. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren whom he loved so dearly.
Survivors include; his loving wife of 43 years, Rosemary Hurt Shepherd of Mt. Sterling; one son, Alan Shepherd (Crystal) of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Betty Wilson (Tom) of East Point, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Graham Shepherd, Hayden Shepherd, and Callen Shepherd all of Mt. Sterling; a sister-in-law, Pat Shepherd of Dwale, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Shepherd.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Chester's memory to; First Church of God, 1051 Camargo Road, Mount Sterling, Kentucky 40353.
Pallbearers: Tommy Wilson, Barney Walker, Reese Ray, Stuart Conley, David Shepherd, and Jason Stephens.
Honorary Pallbearers: The Heritage Sunday School Class, Lucille Risner and Jean Otis.
