Chris Alan Coffman

February 12, 1963 — September 14, 2015

Chris Alan Coffman, 52, of Carthage, Missouri, died Monday afternoon, September 14, 2015 in a motorcycle accident. He was born February 12, 1963 in Carthage to the late Harold and Virginia Rice Coffman.

Chris was a Carthage native, graduated from Carthage High School in 1981, was employed at General Dynamics as a machine operator de-milling explosives and he attended Calvary Chapel of Joplin where his relationship with the Lord was new and growing.  At the young age of 18, he purchased and managed Kerr McGee Gas Station that was located on Central Avenue in Carthage, making him one of the areas youngest entrepreneurs.  Chris enjoyed fishing, spending time with his friends & family and riding his motorcycle.  His infectious smile and laugh was absolutely irresistible.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include; very special friend, Cathy Biggers of Carthage; one son, Cody Coffman of Joplin, one daughter, Carissa Coffman of Joplin; one grandson, Leyvan Coffman of Joplin; one brother, Steve Coffman (Kim) of Morgantown, Kentucky; two sisters, Susan Kanaly of Edmond, Oklahoma and Cindy Dahlman (David) of Jasper; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Debbie Coffman, mother of his children.

A celebration of life gathering for his family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 4:30PM to 6:30PM, Memorial Service at 6:30PM at Calvary Chapel of Joplin, 4899 East 7th Street, Joplin, Missouri.  Following the memorial service, there will be a tribute ride in Chris’ memory sponsored by JoMo Riders Safety and Awareness.
