Christopher Lee Nickels, 59, of Mt. Sterling, died Saturday, July 1, 2017 at UK Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1958 in Mt. Sterling to Homer and Marilyn Nickels.
Chris was a Montgomery County native, of the Christian faith and a general contractor. He enjoyed; sports, playing high school and college basketball and coaching college basketball, playing music, grilling and raising a vegetable garden. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include; his beloved spouse, Desha Blalock of Mt. Sterling; three sons, Cody Lee Nickels (Keesha), Kyle John Nickels (Kayla) and Sam Blalock, all of Mt. Sterling; his parents, Homer and Marilyn Nickels of Mt. Sterling; two brothers, Tom Nickels (Joyce) of Georgetown and Doug Nickels of Mt. Sterling; two grandchildren, Jayden Nickels and Atticus Blalock, both of Mt. Sterling; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Nickels.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 2:00PM. Visitation will be prior from 12:00PM to 2:00PM, both services at Queen Street Christian Fellowship. Inurnment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Creech and Rev. Jeff Perkins.
