Claude Robert Garrett

Claude Robert Garrett, 65, aka "Bobnanny or Cowboy" as he was fondly known by family and friends.  He departed this life on Saturday afternoon, June 12. 2021 at The Windsor Care Facility, Mt. Sterling, KY.  He was born to the late Clarence Garrett, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Hardwick Garrett.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a long time resident of Maysville, KY.  He attended Mt. Sterling High School.  He was a big sports fan and in his younger years he was a pitcher on the local softball team.  He always had encouraging words for the young kids involved in sports.  His favorite teams were Louisville Cardinals and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Claude had a strong work ethic.   He worked at Maloney's Department Store in Mt. Sterling, KY until it closed.  He then moved to Maysville, KY where he was employed by the Kroger Company and retired after 30 years of loyal service.

He was a kind and giving person that helped many along his life's journey. He loved his family and was very supportive of all his nieces and nephews.   He was very passionate about family gatherings.  He loved to entertain and had a comical gift that would keep you laughing.  He could always plan a last minute cookout, even though he was a great cook.  One of his highlights was grilling with his nephews to see who could grill the best, which led to him teasing them about how good he was.

In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by three brothers; John Slade, Clarence Garrett, Jr. (Toppy) and Harry "Nookie" Garrett.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Jemar Garrett, Lexington, KY; one brother, George Garrett (Norma); two sisters, Elizabeth Piersawl (Julian); Barbara Brooks (Howard) all of Mt. Sterling, KY; a granddaughter; Shayla Garrett; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at Rolling Hills Church of Christ on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 12:00PM. Visitation will be prior from 10:00AM - 12:00PM.  Committal will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery.  Brother Dan Murphy will be officiating.
