Clyde Abner

June 27, 1944 — December 26, 2024

Mt. Sterling

Clyde Abner, 80, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. Born on June 27, 1944 to the late Joseph and Geneva Wooley Abner. Clyde was a beloved father, a proud veteran, and a cherished member of his community.

Clyde proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and honor throughout his life. After his military service, he dedicated 33 years to Rockwell International as a machine operator, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

A devoted member and deacon at Rolling Hills Church of Christ, Clyde was deeply involved in his faith community. He was a warm-hearted soul who brightened the lives of those around him with his corny jokes, especially his beloved grandchildren, who cherished their time with him. His love extended to his greatest passions: tending to his potted flowers, celebrating with friends as a loyal UK basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan, and most importantly, nurturing the bonds of family that were central to his life.

Clyde is survived by his son, Michael Abner (Rochelle); daughter, Christie Gasdorf (Brian); grandchildren, Jeremy Abner (Lindzie), Kara Abner (Jermaine Higgins), Alissa Abner (Scott Kenkel), Hannah Abner, Lily Sullivan (Gavin), Noah Duncan (Brandi), Sarah Gasdorf, and Aiden Gasdorf; ten great grandchildren; brothers, Burton Abner and Tracy Abner.

In addition to Clyde's parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Napier Abner; brothers, Lloyd Abner and Kenneth Abner.

A memorial service to honor Clyde's life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 12:00PM at Rolling Hills Church of Christ, with visitation commencing at 10:00AM. Pastor Jerry Carmichael will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Clyde's memory to the Rolling Hills Bible Camp, 125 Rolling Hills Drive, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.

As we reflect on Clyde's life, we remember a man who brought joy and love to all he encountered, whose laughter and kindness will be profoundly missed. His legacy will live on through the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
