Daniel "Danny" Lee Thomas, 45, of Mt. Sterling, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling. He was born in Lexington on March 18, 1969 to Arvada Maloney Thomas and the late Billy Lowell Thomas.
Danny moved to Montgomery County from Clark County three years ago. While living in Clark County he honorably served his community as a police officer on the Winchester Police Department for 23 years until his retirement. He was a State Trustee for the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #34; he enjoyed horseracing, he was an avid UK, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan, but he was an even bigger fan of the sports his children participated in. Above all, Danny's greatest passion in life was his wife, children and family. Survivors include; his loving wife of 18 years, Crystal Booth Thomas of Mt. Sterling; three children, Daniel Blake Thomas, Katelyn Marisa Thomas and Brandon Casey Thomas all of Mt. Sterling; his mother, Arvada Thomas of Beattyville; three brothers, Billy Thomas (Pam) and Jimmy Thomas (Connie) both of Beattyville and David Thomas (Rebecca) of Winchester; three sisters, Tammy Evans (Larry) and Jackie Thomas both of Beattyville, Penny Painter (Robbie) of Stoutsville, Missouri; father-in-law, Charles Booth, Sr. of Beattyville; mother-in-law, Pamela Coomer of Wichester; brother-in-law, Charles Booth, Jr. of Beattyville; sister-in-law, Clarissa Desmond of Covington.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Beattyville First Church of God, 1058 Hwy 11 South, Beattyville, KY. Funeral will be Friday, August 22, 2014 at 2:00PM with a visitation prior to service from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at Grace Baptist Church, 5990 Lexington Road, Winchester, KY. Pastor Pat Finley, David Booth and Anthony Molihan will be officiating. Burial will follow in Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Berl Perdue, Lee Murray, Garland Lacy, Ty Combs, Tommy Parker, Kevin Winebriner, Chris Friley, and Kevin Palmer.
Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, David Thomas, Ben Thomas, William Painter, Charles Booth, Jr., Jerremi Booth, Andrew Fulton, Winchester Police Department and Clark County Sheriff's Department.
