It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Darlene Darnell, 69, of Mt. Sterling, who departed this life on January 22, 2025, at UK Medical Center. Born on July 28, 1955, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Henry Stevens, Sr., and Jerrie Darnell.
Darlene's journey in life was marked by dedication and hard work and spent many years with Gateway Manufacturing where she retired and the Mt. Sterling Advocate. Her work ethic and commitment to her job have left an enduring impact on those who had the privilege to work alongside her.
A devoted member of the High Street Christian Church, Darlene found solace and strength in her faith, participating actively in the church community. An avid reader and a lover of knowledge, she kept herself informed and engaged with the world, often enjoying her time watching the news. Her inquisitive nature and vibrant spirit also shone through during moments spent with her best friend, Juanita Cooper. Together, they shared laughter, stories, and lived experiences, enriching each other's lives.
Above all, Darlene cherished her role as a grandmother. Her adored grandson, Brayden Burgess, were the light of her life. Darlene created a haven of love and support for her family, ensuring they always felt valued and cared for.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Alicia Darnell; grandson, Brayden Burgess; brother, Henry Stevens, Jr.
