Deford Shrout, 86, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Friday morning, June 3, 2022 at Thomson - Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, Kentucky. He was born March 25, 1936 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky to the late Sam and Verna Centers Shrout.
Deford was a Montgomery County native and a member of Ascension Episcopal Church. He retired from the maintenance department of Semicon Associates and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a jack of all trades who spent his time tinkering in his garage and always had a project. He was a former vocational school teacher and pilot. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Deford is survived by two sons; Sam Shrout (Della) of Lexington and Julian Shrout (Tammi) of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren; Gloria Donithan (Ricky) of Mt. Sterling, Emily Rhodes (Jason) of Mt. Sterling, Max Shrout of Phoenix, Arizona and Haley Shrout of Mt. Sterling; five great grandchildren; Lexie Donithan, Caroline Donithan, Ford Rhodes, Cadence Rhodes and Caleb Rhodes, all of Mt. Sterling.
In addition to his parents Deford was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years Janet Faye Norris Shrout; daughter; Jana Shrout Goodpaster and brother; Lee Shrout.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Machpelah Cemetery with Military Rites. Pastor Grant Cannoy will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Deford Shrout to Thomson - Hood Veterans Center, 100 Veterans Drive Wilmore, Kentucky 40390.
