Delia Inez Quinlan Thornton, 92, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling. She was born July 19, 1924 to the late Mary Fanning and Thomas Quinlan.
Delia and her late husband moved to Montgomery County in 2005 from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She was of the Catholic faith but attended the First Baptist Church. Delia was a member of the Busy Seekers Homemakers and the Montgomery County Senior Citizens. She had a spicy personality and enjoyed crochet and ceramics. She will be dearly missed by her family, church family and friends.
Survivors include; one son, Freddy Thornton (America) of Slidell, Louisiana; two daughters, Jo Ann Shipp (James) of Mt. Sterling and Rita "Cookie" Relan of Slidell, Louisiana; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2009, Fred Thornton; two brothers, Daniel Quinlan and Thomas Quinlan; three sisters, Mary Ryckman, Katheryn Albeanese and Margaret Bagot.
