It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Devin Dimitrius Wright, affectionately known as "Deuce," who departed this life on Friday, March 14, 2025, at UK Medical Center, at the tender age of 19. Devin was born on November 14, 2005, in Paducah, Kentucky, and raised in Mt. Sterling, where he touched the lives of many with his infectious laughter and compassionate spirit.
Devin was a proud graduate of Montgomery County High School, class of 2024, where he excelled not only academically but also as a dedicated member of the bowling team. His love for the sport mirrored his approach to life-enthusiastic and competitive, yet always kind-hearted. After high school, Devin pursued his dreams in the field of dentistry, attending Morehead State University as a pre-dental major.
In his professional life, Devin started working at Walmart since early high school, where his colleagues admired his work ethic and warm demeanor. He was known for his humble nature and thoughtful gestures, often going out of his way to help others. Beyond his professional endeavors, Devin had a passion for gaming and enjoyed the camaraderie that came with it. He was a talented electric guitar player, with a love for music that resonated deeply in his soul. Devin found joy in BMX riding and spent many hours working on his car, relishing each moment spent honing his skills. Devin cherished spending time with his childhood best friends and his fiancé whom he loved with his whole heart.
Devin will be remembered not only for his talents and accomplishments but for the loving relationships he built with his friends and family. He is survived by his beloved parents, Stephanie & Nathaniel Westbrook and Evan & Becky Wright; sisters, Alizabeth Woodard, Anntasia Hudson (Cameron Phelps), Janai Orr, Tyeese Anderson, Cristin Ware, Chelsea Robinson, I'Asia Wright, Dejah Wright, Evoni Wright, and Abagaill Wright; brothers, Evan Wright, Jr., Kevin Wright, Adrian English, AlexZander Wright, and Thomas Wright; fiancé, Jaidyn Nashick; maternal grandparents, Barbara Byrd & Gary Cope and Barbara & James Johnson; paternal grandfather, Willie Wright; special aunt, Porshe Miller; nieces and nephew, Cambree Phelps, Zendaya Robinson, and Nehemiah Robinson, all of whom take solace in the cherished memories they hold dear.
Devin is preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Stanley Byrd and Willie James Harrell; maternal grandmother, Pamela Miller.
Memorial services for Devin Dimitrius Wright will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 12:00PM, with a visitation prior from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, at First Church of God. Pastor Chris Shaw will be officiating. The family invites all who knew and loved Devin to join them in celebrating his life and honoring his legacy. A reception will follow at Heritage Christian Church, providing an opportunity for friends and family to share their stories and reflect on the impact Devin made during his time with us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Devin's memory to the Montgomery County High School Boys Bowling Team, 724 Woodford Drive, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353, ensuring his passion for the sport continues to inspire future generations.
Though Devin's time with us was brief, his spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing.
