It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Jean Donaldson Cockrell, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on March 22, 1948, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Bill and Lillian Vice Donaldson. Donna lived her entire life in the warm embrace of this close-knit community.
A devoted homemaker, Donna found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially when surrounded by her family. She was a proud member of the Camargo United Methodist Church, where her caring spirit and love for community flourished. As a talented cook, Donna brought her family together around the table, delighting in sharing meals during cherished family gatherings. Her home was always filled with laughter, good food, and the aroma of her latest culinary creations.
Beyond the kitchen, Donna was an avid reader and a people person, making friends easily and touching many lives with her warmth. She loved traveling, each journey was an opportunity for new experiences and memories. Donna found enjoyment in sports, specifically UK basketball.
Known for her straightforward personality, Donna was a loving, caring presence to all who knew her. She took pride in her home and enjoyed mowing her yard and tending to the flowers that brightened her surroundings.
Donna is survived by her husband, Kenneth Earl Cockrell; three children, Terry Cockrell (Hilary), Sheila Cockrell, and Sarah Arnold (Ronnie); grandchildren, Alex Baker (Brenna), Casey Arnold, Juel Bakhsheshi (Blake), Jaleigh Cockrell, Kiley Cockrell, Luke Cockrell, Jordan Arnold, Anderson Smith, Oliver Smith, Ayla Smith, and Montgomery Cockrell; one great grandchild; siblings, William Donaldson (Margaret), Brenda Carpenter (Donnie), and Pete Donaldson (Sherry).
In addition to her parents, Donna is preceded in death by her brother, Danny Donaldson.

Donna Jean Cockrell will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her spirit live on in the hearts she touched.
