Dorothy Veronica Cerda Cassin, 92, of Lexington, Kentucky, died Wednesday morning, October 7, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 22, 1928 to the late Raymond and Ester Passeleno Cerda.
Dorothy moved to Lexington six years ago from Palos Hills, Illinois. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palos Hills, Illinois. She was a lifelong Chicagoland Southsider; an avid bingo player and a slot machine winner! Dorothy will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, John Michael Cassin (Michelle) of Lexington; four grandchildren, Kyle Cassin (Caroline) of Lexington, Kentucky, Sean Cassin (Amy Birner) of Brookhaven, Mississippi, James Fetta of Westchester, Illinois and Andrew Bishop of Chicago, Illinois; one great grandson, Beckham Cassin of Lexington.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Andrew Cassin; her daughter, Mary Therese Bishop and sister, Carmella Marie Cerda.
There will be a private family committal service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleums in Evergreen Park, Illinois at a later date.
