Dorothy Marie Rawlings Sutton, 88, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away on December 30, 2023. A beloved mother, sister, friend, and grandmother (or more affectionately known as “Mam”); those who knew Dorothy loved her for her sense of humor and colorful personality. She was a one-of-a-kind treasure and will be missed greatly.
Dorothy was born July 28, 1935, in Sharpsburg, KY to Willie Ray Rawlings and Della Ray May Rawlings. She was united in marriage to Bob Sutton on April 8, 1956, in Sharpsburg, KY with whom she raised two daughters and a son.
Dorothy leaves behind her children, Anna Ray Sutton (Don) Martin of Dry Ridge, KY, Roberta Sutton (Bill) Thompson of Somerset, KY, and R.T. (Shelly) Sutton of Mt Sterling, KY; grandchildren, Craig (Valerie) Martin, Ashley Martin (Mark) Coleman, Lana Martin (Patrick) Hale, Will (Callie) Thompson, Alex (Emily) Sutton, Abby Sutton (Christopher) Weeks, Addison (Sarah Jane) Thompson, and Lily Sutton (Jesse) Toon; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother Rex (Rosalie) Rawlings; and two special nieces, Rachel Simpson and Rebecca Maupin.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is proceeded in death by her husband Bob Sutton.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Visitation will be held prior from 9:00AM -11:00AM. Both will be held at Gateway Christian Church, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Interment will follow the funeral service at Machpelah Cemetery. Pastor Bill Kilgore will be officiating.
