Edna Mae (Poynter) Emmons

November 3, 1929 — March 15, 2022

Edna Mae Poynter Emmons, 92, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Tuesday evening, March 15, 2022, at Windsor Care Center following a short illness.  She was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky on November 3, 1929, to the late Everitt and Lizza Walters Poynter.

Edna was a life-long resident of Montgomery County, a member of First Church of God, Mt. Sterling and a former sales clerk with Begley's Drug Store. She was a people person and enjoyed cooking, eating out, shopping and spending time with her family.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Edna is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-two years, Omar Vice Emmons of Mt. Sterling; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by three brothers; Deward Poynter, James M. Poynter and George E. Poynter; three sisters; Glorina Poynter Conway, Lillie Poynter Reid and Mary Magaline Poynter Levridge.

Per Edna's wishes there will be no services at this time.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church, 846 Grassy Lick Road, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959 in her memory.
