Our beloved mother, Ella Jane Cox, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, after a long illness. She was born during the Great Depression on January 14, 1930, in Pomeroyton, Kentucky, to Benjamin and Flora Bell Fletcher Long. She was married to Eyvind Cox in 1946, who preceded her in death in 2009.
Ella lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and worked several years at A.O. Smith Corporation and Cowden Manufacturing, and she was a former member of Jeffersonville Baptist Church.
Ella lived quite a life and loved nature and the outdoors and spent her time after retirement exploring the woodlands surrounding her home of many years in Jeffersonville. She also loved animals both wild and domesticated and enjoyed the companionship of numerous pets over the years, especially her beloved dog, Cricket.
In addition to Ella's husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Poynter (Tony); grandsons, Scotty Robinson, Matthew Cox, and infant Peck twins; sisters, Ruth Helton and Rebecca Welch; brothers, Warren Long and Ronnie Long.
Ella is survived by her daughters, Lettie Robinson (Tim) of Hillsboro, and Karen Peck (Randall) of Frenchburg, and Trina Miller (Gene) of Mt. Sterling; sons, Roy Cox (Michele) of London, and Billy Cox (Debbie) of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Shelly Poynter, Joe Poynter, David Robinson, Randall "Pete" Peck, Jr., Susan Peck Smallwood, Mason Cox, Laura Cox, Roy S. Cox, and Bethany Cox; brother, Paul Long of Campton; two step-grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services celebrating Ella's life will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 12:00PM. Visitation will be prior from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, both services at Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. Rev. James Daulton will be officiating.
