Evelyn James

Evelyn Creech James, 78, was born on December 1, 1946, in Hope, to the late Hager and Morine Davis Creech. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at UK Medical Center. A gentle spirit, Evelyn was a beloved member of her community, known for her vibrant personality, unwavering kindness, and immense love for her family.

Evelyn dedicated her professional life to serving others as a dietary planner at Mary Chiles Hospital, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of many. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her work; she was a devoted mother to her son, Jeff James(Tiffany); her daughter, Jennifer James; grandmother to, Daven Wills (Katrina Smith), Lauren Donithan, Griffen James, Livia Donithan, Isaiah Donithan, and Aiden James; great grandmother to, Sadie Wills and Clark Wills; sister to, Wilma James (Hubert White) and Edgar Creech(Areeda). She also had great love for her nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love will continue through her cherished family.

A proud member of the Hope First Church of God, Evelyn found joy in her faith and her community. She was renowned for her incredible cooking and was often the heart of family gatherings, sharing laughter and nurturing meals that brought everyone together. Evelyn's great sense of humor ensured that smiles were abundant wherever she went.

Evelyn's caring nature and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her light will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

Funeral services will be held at the Hope First Church of God on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. A visitation will take place at the same location on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing loved ones to share their condolences and reminisce about the wonderful moments spent with Evelyn. Committal will take place following the funeral at Little Slate Cemetery. Pastor Glennis Sizemore will be officiating.
