Evelyn Murphy

Evelyn Murphy, 80, of Mt. Sterling, died Monday evening, April 9, 2012 at St. Joseph-Mt. Sterling Hospital. She was born September 8, 1931 in Bath County to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Conyers.

Evelyn moved to Montgomery County as an infant. She graduated from Mt. Sterling High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Evelyn loved to serve with the First United Methodist Women, have lunch and fun with the "Ya Ya Sisterhood" and was UK Basketball fan.

Survivors include; one son, Kelly Murphy (Barbara) of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren, Scott and Conner Murphy of Mt. Sterling and Rachel Book (Scott) of Lexington; one daughter-in-law, Rebecca Murphy of Mt. Sterling; special friends, Betty Orme of Mt. Sterling and the "Ya Ya Sisterhood".

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Critt Murphy; her twin sister, Carolyn Martin and her brother, Parker Conyers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, First Church of God Youth Building Fund and to St. Claire Hospice.

Memorial Service will be Friday, April 13, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Scott Wilson will be officiating.
