Gerald “Jerry” Lee Maloney, 79, a beloved member of the Jeffersonville community, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington on October 4, 2024, following a life well-lived. Born on April 17, 1945, in Mt. Sterling to the late Chester “Check” and Leoma Holley Maloney. He was a dedicated heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, finding solace in excavating with his beloved Caterpillar D6 bulldozer from a young age of thirteen. Jerry's passion for the outdoors extended to his love for riding motorcycles and watching Westerns, always accompanied by indulging in good meals, particularly desserts.
In his personal life, Jerry cherished his moments spent conversing with his children and grandchildren daily, finding joy and fulfillment in these connections. His unwavering faith was a cornerstone of his existence, as a devoted member of the Hope First Church of God, where he found peace and purpose. Jerry's life took a transformative turn when he chose to embrace sobriety and dedicate himself to his spiritual journey, a decision that brought him immense fulfillment.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Brenda Mansfield Maloney; children, Denise Maloney Collins and Chris Maloney (Janene); grandchildren, Katie Gilvin (Michael Parks), Lane Maloney, Madison Collins (Myers Caudill), and Bailee Maloney (Tristan Jones); great grandchildren, Jaxon Brown, Wyatt Caudill, Koe Jones, and Brixlee Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to Jerry’s parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emilee-Grace “with the smiling face” Collins; brother, Chester Maloney, Jr.
In remembrance of Jerry Lee Maloney, family and friends are invited to attend the visitation, which will be held at Hope First Church of God on October 9, 2024, at 5:00pm to 8:00pm, followed by a funeral service on October 10, 2024, at 10:00am, at the same location.
