Helen Elizabeth Stephens Wingate, 84, of Mt. Sterling, died Friday afternoon, February 1, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Frankfort on January 28, 1929 to the late Roger and Helen Porter Stephens.
Helen was a Montgomery County resident, a graduate from Mt. Sterling High School, and a member of Gateway Christian Church. She was formerly employed by Walmart for 14 years, where she worked as a Sales Associate in the Fabric Department. She had a passion for sewing, cooking, UK basketball, and going to the beach. Above all, Helen's greatest love was her family by whom she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include; one son, Gary Wingate (Connie) of Racine, Wisconsin; three daughters, Julia Lynn Begley (Ernie) of Mt. Sterling, Peggy Anne Kiefer (David) of Midway, and Jan Marie Chamness (Bill) of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Lillian Robinson of Mt. Sterling; ten grandchildren; Bryan Begley (Rachel) of Bumpass, Virginia, Anne-Marie Johnson (Kelly) of Mt. Sterling, Ernie Begley III of McDermott, Ohio, Lora Lee Jenkins (Darrick) of Lucasville, Ohio, Cary Lynn Wingate of Racine, Wisconsin, Aaron Wingate of Racine, Wisconsin, Jamie Wingate of Fort Meade, Maryland, Hurshel Wingate of Lexington, Elizabeth Chamness and David Chamness, both of Mt. Sterling; thirteen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; special caregivers, Jackie Larrison, Nicole McGuire, Shaunna Patton, Maxine Spradling and her hospice nurse, Kim Jent.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-seven years in 1993, Hurshel Wingate; and a sister, Estelle Riggs.

Funeral will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10:00AM at Gateway Christian Church. Visitation will be Monday, February 4, 2013 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Gateway Christian Church. Pastor Glenn Emery and Pastor Bill Kilgore will be officiating. Burial will follow in Machpelah Cemetery.
