Hirshel Ray Bowling, 71, of Winchester died Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Sandy Hook, Kentucky on April 6, 1949 to the late John and Gladys Barker Bowling.
Hirshel was a lifelong resident of Winchester, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was previously employed at Rockwell International. He was a Purple Heart recipient who served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. Hirshel enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
Hirshel is survived by his beloved wife of forty-eight years, Elizabeth Tuminski Bowling of Winchester; three children, Elizabeth “Beth” Bowling of Winchester, Clinton Ray Bowling (Christy) of Liberty, and Erin Bowling Newton (David) of Winchester; eight grandchildren, Rayne Woodring of Lexington, Seth Woodring, Kaitlyn Newton and Kierstyn Newton all of Winchester and Breyanna Bowling, John Bowling, Christopher Spears and Jake Bowling all of Liberty; one sister, Mary McKinley (Frank) of Lexington and one brother, Rex Bowling (Jackie) of Deltona, Florida; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Hirshel was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Haynes and one brother, Ralph Bowling.
In respect of current public health restrictions, memorial services will be announced at later date.
