Horace Gene Ellis, 81, of Mt. Sterling, died Sunday morning, November 4, 2012 at his residence. He was born April 2, 1931 in Dunnville, Kentucky to the late Othello and Bertha Mings Ellis.
Horace Gene moved to Montgomery County five years ago from Campbellsville. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and retired from the Civil Service where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Horace Gene was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, he enjoyed fishing, classical music, bluegrass music, and playing checkers, but most of all spending time with his family that he dearly loved.
Survivors include; two sons, Daryl Ray Ellis (Barbara) of Mt. Sterling, and Glenn Ellis (Patricia) of Rockland, California; one daughter, Janet Bradford of El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his former wife, Victoria Ellis of El Paso, Texas.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Dean Ellis and a sister, Elizabeth Ellis.
Funeral will be Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 1:00PM EST at Blessed Hope Old Regular Baptist Church, Spruce Pine Road, Columbia, Kentucky. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM EST at Blessed Hope Old Regular Baptist Church, Spruce Pine Road, Columbia, Kentucky. Burial will follow in Pellyton Cemetery in Adair County. Elder Mike Slone and Brother Jimmy Ellis will be officiating.
