James Arnold Collins, 79, of Mt. Sterling, died Saturday morning at his residence. He was born July 1, 1932 in Mt. Sterling to the late Hager Sr. and Mary Collins.
James was a Montgomery County native, previously employed as a supervisor for twenty plus years at Hobart and also retired after twenty-five years with City Cartage as a truck driver. James also served as a volunteer fireman and was passionate about kids, breaking and riding horses, farming, having a neat yard, UK Basketball and NFL Football. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include; his wife of twenty-seven years, Mary Collins of Mt. Sterling; three sons, Danny Collins of Winchester, Barry Duff of Mt. Sterling and Danny Robbins (Alice) of Mt. Sterling; two daughters, Sandy Romenesko (Kevin) of Mt. Sterling and Missy Willoughby (James) of Mt. Sterling; one brother, Teddy Collins (Donna) of Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Peggy Barreda (Manny) of Winchester and Vickie Branham (Bobby) of Mt. Sterling; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Collins of Troy, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Betty Collins of Mt. Sterling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Harry Collins and one brother, Hager Collins, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
Funeral will be Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 12:00PM. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Gateway Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Machpelah Cemetery. Pastor Glenn Emery will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be; Jeff Yarber, Lantz Coons, Joe Dicken, Jimmy Dicken, David Rose and Kevin Romenesko.
Honorary Pallbearers will be; Eddie Rice, Danny Rice, Walker Hasty, Omar Emmons, James Willoughby, Teddy Collins, Chris Rice and Norman Lansdale.
