James Edward Fields, 63, of Olympia, died Wednesday morning at his sister's residence in Green Cove Springs, Florida. He was born September 18, 1948 in Grundy, Virginia, to the late Elmer Fields and Alice Matney.
James moved to Bath County in 1997 from Lexington where he graduated from Lafayette High School. James was an electric motor technician and retired from City Electric Motor Company. He enjoyed the outdoors life; fishing, gardening, working on the farm, UK Basketball and NASCAR racing. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include; two daughters, Rebecca McNeill (Jodie) and Devon Alexander of Olympia; four brothers, Jerry B. Fields (Reva) of Vansant, Virginia, David A. Fields (Barbara) of Grundy, Virginia, Frankie L. Fields (Paula) of Mineral, Virginia and Richie A. Matney (Charlene) of Louisa, Virginia; four sisters, Shirley A. Church of McRae, Georgia, Edna M. Moore (John) of Gordonsville, Virginia, Cathy G. Hoke (Jerry) of Mineral, Virginia and Mary E. Breeden (Roger) of Olympia; three grandchildren, James McNeill, Kasey McNeill and Elizabeth Alexander all of Olympia.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Fields, July 25, 2011 and his brother-in-law, Lanny Farmer, August 23, 2011 and one sister, Linda F. Belcher.
Funeral/Visitation Service will be Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Coffman Mortuary Parlor.
