Mr. James Ronald Hays, a beloved member of the Frenchburg community, passed away on June 19, 2024 surrounded by his family, in his hometown where he was born on September 17, 1942. He was a man of many passions and talents that left a lasting impact on those around him. 

 Born and raised in Frenchburg, Mr. Hays found joy in the simple things in life. His love for farming the land, raising tobacco and logging extended to his hobbies as he was a lifetime master mechanic and enjoyed restoring old cars, spending days by Cave Run Lake indulging in boating and swimming. His connection to nature was profound, reflected in his dedication to caring for animals and his enthusiastic ginseng explorations.

 Beyond his farming career, Mr. Hays was a versatile musician who could skillfully play the harmonica, guitar, piano, and organ. His love for music brought joy to many, showcasing his vibrant and creative spirit. Along with his musical talents, Mr. Hays had a playful side, known for his prankster personality that never failed to bring laughter and light-hearted moments to those around him.

 Devoted to his faith, Mr. Hays was a cherished member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg, Kentucky, where he found solace and community in his spiritual journey. His dedication to his family, including his spouse, Panchitta Hays; children, Kim Ferrell, Rhonda Hunt (Sam), Terri Hays and Gwendy Alcala (Hector); eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. 

 James was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan Hays, Sr. and Ethel Short Hays; step-mother, Emma Hays; and siblings, Paul Hays, Aggie Leis, Imogene Coder, Bryan Hays, Jr. and Gwen Benson; son-in-law, Jack Ferrell.

 Private family service.

 Rest in peace, Mr. James Ronald Hays. You will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all whose lives you touched.
