James Douglas Martin, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday, September 17, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Montgomery County on February 9, 1950 to the late Albert and Almeta Cantral Martin.
James was a Montgomery County native, a United States Army Veteran and attended Christian Fellowship Church. He retired from Bellsouth Telephone Company and helped install our local 911 Emergency Communication System. James spoke to everyone he encountered and enjoyed camping, his dogs, and traveling, especially to Florida during the winter months. He loved his friends and family and they will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Linda Chandler Martin of Mt. Sterling; one son, Todd Martin of Mt. Sterling; one daughter, Sara Martin (Mark Holland) also of Mt. Sterling and two grandchildren, Yasmine Holland and Kaylie Holland, both of Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Helen Kirk of Mt. Sterling and Phyllis Sexton (Jay) of Louisville and close friends, Randy Wyatt of Mt. Sterling and Donnie Brown (Linda) of Frenchburg.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Martin, Bobby Martin, Rex Martin and one sister, Faye Havens.
