James Edward Riddle, 70, of Mt. Sterling, died on Friday, July 12, 2019 at his residence. He was born on October 21, 1948 in Mt. Sterling to the late Commie and Beulah Riddle.
James was a member of Bethesda Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, American Legion and a Mt. Sterling native. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Mt. Sterling Water & Sewer System. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads, yard sales, playing poker and shooting pool with friends. James liked to travel and enjoyed one cross country trip in particular where he visited national parks and ate meatloaf all along the way only to learn that his wife's meatloaf was the best. He will be missed by his many friends and loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife Janice Welch Riddle of Mt. Sterling; two daughters Cathy Spencer (Daniel) of Mt. Sterling and Casey Puckett (Bryan) of Jeffersonville; three sisters, Bertha Mitchell of Mt. Sterling, Myra Toy of Owingsville and Mary Peace of Mt. Sterling; six grandchildren, Joey Spencer (Ashley), Joshua Spencer (LaShannon) and Chase Spencer (Sydney) all of Mt. Sterling, Austin Barnett (Shanae) of Hindman, Lane Barnett (Sierra) of Owingsville and Alexander Puckett of Jeffersonville; eight great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Sue Riddle of Trenton, OH, one son-in-law, Savoy Barnett of Owingsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Barnett and one brother, Kenneth Riddle.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be prior from 10:00AM-11:00AM at Bethesda Church. Committal to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg. Paul Prather will be officiating.
In-lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Bethesda Church for the new roof fund. Bethesda Church, 3339 Winchester Road, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
