James Weldon Williams

James Weldon Williams, 88, of Lexington, died Thursday, January 5, 2017 at a veterans care residence in Kings Mountain, Kentucky. He was born March 2, 1928 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Charles Sr. and Celia Mae Peck Williams.
James was a United States Army veteran in the Korean War and a graduate from Morehead State University. He taught art at the Fayette County schools and Eastern Kentucky University. James enjoyed painting abstract art, writing poems and traveling. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include; fifteen nieces and nephews and a host of grands.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Charles Williams, Jr., Richard Williams, Alma Williams Works, Dorothy Williams Works, Virginia Williams Becraft and Betty Jane Williams; three nephews and one niece.
