James "Jimmy" Douglas Sivis, 81, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday, December 31, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Mt. Sterling on February 24, 1939 to the late Claude and Helen May Sivis.
Jimmy was a Montgomery County native, of the Christian faith and was previously in the fencing business. He loved collecting old things; where others saw trash, he saw treasure. He enjoyed tinkering with old cars and lawn mowers. His favorite topic of conversation was God and would spend hours reading the Bible and books related to the Bible. He believed whole heartedly that the Word of God is true and that God's mercy and forgiveness ran deeper than we can even imagine. Jimmy loved his wife deeply, he said she had the most beautiful eyes he'd ever seen. He'll be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Jimmy is survived by four daughters, Beverly Setters of Mt. Sterling, Lynn Sivis of Mt. Sterling, Kymberli King (Pernell) of Lexington and Jama Preston (Brian) of Mt. Sterling; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Fanning (Joseph) and Marquita Otis.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Fronda Swartz Sivis.
