It is with both sadness and deep gratitude that we announce the passing of Janet Sue Martin Little, 73, a beloved mother, loyal friend, and devoted servant of God, who left us on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 15, 1951, in Sanfield, Kentucky, to the late Bennie and Mary Sweeney Martin. Janet spent her life surrounded by her adoring family and friends in the warm embrace of her community.
Janet, who embodied kindness and acceptance, was fiercely dedicated to everyone around her. As a mother to Sherri and Mickey Little, she nurtured them with unconditional love, teaching them to always appreciate the simple joys of life. Her warmth extended to her late husband, Harley, whom she cherished deeply, and she continued to honor his memory with daily kisses on his picture.
A firm believer in the power of positivity, Janet would send daily inspirational messages to her friends on Facebook, spreading encouragement wherever she went. She enjoyed the beauty of nature, often found sitting on her front porch with Harley, sipping coffee and watching the birds-a moment she described as pure bliss.
Janet's love for life was evident in her passions: she was an exceptional cook, known for ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry. She took great joy in celebrating the holidays, particularly Christmas, and relished in planning family get-togethers with her extended family where she would always be telling stories. Her appreciation for life's blessings was captured in her daily "blessings jar," where she would place reminders of gratitude.
Janet will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her generous spirit, and her unwavering faith that God would always provide. Her vibrant personality, love for the color orange, and delightful sense of humor will continue to inspire us as we cherish our memories of her.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Sherri Little of Mt. Sterling, and her son, Mickey Little of Winchester; her cat, Lilly; grand dog, Dolly Pearl; grand cat, Tit Tat; a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, and people she considered family that she loved dearly.
In addition to Janet's parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband for 55 years, Harley Little, Jr.; brothers, Terry Martin, and Jerry Martin.
Friends and family alike will gather on Saturday, January 4, 2025, to celebrate Janet's remarkable life. A visitation will take place at the Four Seasons Christian Center at Camp Lyons from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Pastor Alan Ratliff, Gary Mayabb, and Trevor Ratliff will be officiating. Following the service, it was Janet's hopes that everyone would join in celebrating her life over food, conversation, and fellowship. All are welcome to join in honoring her legacy and the joy she brought into our lives.
In lieu of flowers, Janet requested that you bring a dish to share while reminiscing and enjoying each other's company. She would like for anyone who would like to play music or sing during the fellowship to be welcomed to do so.
The family encourages everyone to embrace Janet's spirit by practicing kindness and sharing laughter with others. Janet wanted everyone to know how much she appreciated the love shown through visits, cards, and kind gestures during her life, and she carries that gratitude into eternity.
