Laverne (Hunt) Highley

June 14, 1932 — December 29, 2022

Laverne H. Highley, 90, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2022 at Windsor Care Center after a brief illness.  She was the only child born to Jake and Lillie Rogers Hunt on June 14, 1932 in Bath County, Kentucky.

Laverne was a member of Moore's Ferry Church of Christ, a homemaker and a farmer.  In her spare time she liked to embroider, appliqué, cross stitch and hand piece and hand quilt  beautiful quilts.  In later years she traveled to the original forty-eight states and Mexico.  In July 2007 Laverne moved to Mt. Sterling and attended Queen Street Christian Church and Gateway Church of God, where she made many friends.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Laverne is survived by her daughter, Jane Russell Highley and her husband Terry Bailey of Owingsville; granddaughter, Charity Amber Robbins and her husband Gregory of Mt. Sterling.

In addition to her parents, Laverne was preceded in death by her son Gary M. Highley in 1971 and the father of her children, James R. Highley in 2002.
