Lena “Cricket” Ethel Stewart Henderson peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday afternoon, August 14, 2024, at her residence in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bath County on January 21, 1940, Lena was the daughter of the late Clemmie Morton Stewart and Georgia Alberta Heaston Stewart.

Affectionately known as "Cricket" to those who knew and cherished her, Lena had a radiant spirit and a profound love for nurturing others through her culinary skills, particularly renowned for her delectable potato salad and salmon patties. A dedicated farmer who cherished her animals and took joy in tending to her land, Lena found solace in nature, often mowing the yard alongside her feline companion Goldie. Above all, she held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, who brought light and joy into her life.

Lena Henderson is survived by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Bob Henderson, and her four adored daughters: Teresa Willoughby (David), Rhonda Sue Barnett (Ernest), Bobbie Frazier (Doug), and Tina Henderson (Anthony Rice). Her legacy lives on through ten cherished grandchildren, Christopher Barnett (Gloria), Kelly Barnett (Michael Dudley), Brandon Garrett, Alicia Frazier, Hunter Frazier, Lizzie Frazier, Lauren Frazier, Eugene Willoughby (Michelle), Becky Myers, and Jerrica Rice. Additionally, she leaves behind nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and a special aunt, Margaret Helen Stewart, who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her cherished paternal grandmother, Anna Lizzie Stewart, who played a significant role in her upbringing. Lena was also preceded in death by a special aunt, Lucille Garner. 

Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM – 7:00PM on Monday, August 19, 2024. Both will be held at Rolling Hills Church of Christ 125 Rolling Hills Drive Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353. Interment will follow the funeral service at Longview Cemetery. Brother Dan Murphy and Brother Jerry Carmichael will be officiating. 

Pallbearers: Tony Barber, Gary Henderson, Christopher Barnett, Kelly Barnett, Hunter Frazier, Brandon Garrett, Eugene Willoughby and Johnny Sturgill. 

Honorary Pallbearers: Burnsy Stewart, Terry Stewart, David Willoughby, Ernest Barnett, Doug Frazier and Anthony Rice. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lena’s memory to Rolling Hills Church of Christ Bible Camp 125 Rolling Hills Drive Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
