Leslie Paul "Buck" Blevins, 80, of Mt. Sterling, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was born January 30, 1934 to the late Herbie and Biddie Alice Williams Blevins.
Buck, a Montgomery County native, was a member of the Church of Christ. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy where he served as a cook on the U.S.S. Wasp aircraft carrier ship. He was a graduate of Montgomery County High School and International Correspondence School in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Buck enjoyed playing golf and he always drove a truck, better known as the "Buck Truck".
Survivors include; his loving wife of 56 years, Lou Blevins of Mt. Sterling; three sons, Barry Blevins (Teresa) of Paris, Brent Blevins (Stephanie) of Danville and Leslie Paul II (Breanne) of Morehead; two sisters, Louise Igo of Mt. Sterling and Laverna Grayson (William) of Sharpsburg; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn "Katie" Blevins of Walton, Grant Blevins of Danville, Griffin Blevins of Danville, Jackson Blevins of Paris and Alice Finnley Blevins of Morehead.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Blevins; one brother, Bob Blevins and two sisters, Joyce Craig and Janice Blevins.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the VA Hospice Unit in Building 27-2 on Leestown Road in Lexington for taking such great care of Buck.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Rolling Hills Church of Christ, 125 Rolling Hills Drive, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353 or VA Hospice-Palliative Care Unit 27-2, 1101 Veterans Drive, Lexington, Kentucky 40502.
