Mount Sterling

Lula “Lou” Alice Tipton Blevins, 86, a cherished member of the community, passed away on September 14, 2024, at Baptist Health Lexington. Born on May 27, 1938, in Montgomery County, to the late Troy and Bessie Amburgey Tipton. Lou excelled as a legal secretary at White, Peck, and Carrington Attorneys at Law.

Baptized at the age of 15, Lou was a devoted member of various churches, including Rolling Hills Church of Christ in Mt. Sterling, Liberty Road Church of Christ in Lexington, and Winchester Church of Christ, where she shared her warmth and wisdom as a Sunday school and ladies bible class teacher. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, inspiring her to lead and teach with compassion and dedication.

Lou’s passion for decorating, floral arranging, and spending quality time with loved ones brought joy to all who knew her. She found fulfillment in serving her community as a member of the Red Hat Society, Digging Deeper Ladies Bible Class, and the Secret PAL program. Her most cherished pastime was caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness and pride to her life. In addition, she found immense delight in cheering for the UK Wildcats and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lou will be dearly missed by her sons, Barry Blevins (Teresa), and Brent Blevins (Stephanie); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Allen (Patrick), Grant Blevins, Griffin Blevins, Jackson Blevins, Alice Finnley Blevins, and Sullivan Blevins; great grandchildren, Darcie Allen and Kash Allen; daughter-in-law, Breanne Blevins (Nathan Goble) and as well as her extended family and friends. Her memory will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Lou is preceded in death by the love of her life of 56 years, Leslie Paul Blevins. They were married in 1958 at Oak Hill Church of Christ in Mt. Sterling; also preceded in death by her beloved son, Leslie Paul “L.P.” Blevins II.

Per Lou’s request, there will be a private family graveside service at Machpelah Cemetery. Bro. Dan Murphy and Bro. Jerry Carmichael will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to Rolling Hills Bible Camp, 125 Rolling Hills Drive, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353, or a charity of your choice.

Lou Tipton Blevins may have left this world, but her spirit and kindness will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire and guide us for years to come.
