Mary Lucille Byrd Lee, a beloved member of the Mount Sterling community, passed away on September 15, 2024, at her residence at the age of 71. Born in Mt. Sterling, on January 23, 1953, to the late Berry and Addie Lyman Byrd. Mary was a dedicated wife to her husband, Jim Lee. As a laborer in the manufacturing industry, Mary's hard work ethic was just one of the many admirable qualities she possessed.
Mary found joy in attending Jeffersonville Baptist Church and cherished the time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She had a passion for collecting glassware, searching for treasures at yard sales and auctions. In her leisure time, Mary enjoyed playing games and exploring social media on her tablet. Known for her warm and welcoming personality, Mary never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need and easily formed connections with others.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Jim Lee; daughter, Ruth Lee; grandchildren, Alexes Meadows (Bradley) and Colby Lee; great grandchild, Jameson Meadows; daughter-in-law, Kem Lee; special “sibling’s” she helped to raise, Janet Turner, Mary “Sissy” Turner Rothwell, Jerry Mac Turner and Heather Adkins; special friend, Pam Kendall.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her loving son, Jason Lee; her siblings, Jimmy Byrd, Lucy Byrd, Billy Byrd and Infant Raymond Byrd.
A Graveside Service for Mary Lucille Lee will be held at Machpelah Cemetery on September 24, 2024, at 12:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and legacy. Pastor Waltes Lee will be officiating.
Mary's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a deep appreciation for family. May she rest in peace.
