Michelle B. Kunz, 66, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 7, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Hosington, Kansas on September 6, 1955 to Vernon and Verna Pejsha Riemann.
Michelle's life was filled with her unlimited devotion and love of teaching. She taught at Morehead State University for over thirty-one years. In that role, she was widely recognized for her accomplishments in teaching as well as major publications and her willingness to serve in leadership roles for various organizations. Michelle was known by all who loved her as a strong, independent, and otherwise charismatic individual who always looked for opportunity to contribute and find ways to accomplish whatever task was before her.
In addition to her long and successful career in education, Michelle never missed an opportunity to support and care for animals. She leaves three beautiful cat babies Rex, Zoey and Jake.
Michelle is survived by her husband of forty-six years; Dale L. Kunz of Mt. Sterling; her father; Vernon Riemann of Elsworth, Kansas and a very special family friend; Curtis Hicthman of Hosington, Kansas.
Michelle was preceded in death by her mother; Verna Riemann.
At Michelle's request, there will be no memorial service at this time. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
The family requests all memorials and gifts be donated to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike Lexington, Kentucky 40504.
