Nancy Rose McCracken Shoemaker, 79, of Mt. Sterling, died Friday evening, August 18, 2017 in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born June 1, 1938 in Mt. Sterling to late Bernie and Virginia Howard McCracken.
Nancy was a life-long resident of Montgomery County and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed CB radios and her handle was "Crazy Momma", fishing, dancing, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include; her beloved husband of sixty-two years, Scott Shoemaker of Mt. Sterling; one son, Tony Shoemaker (Elizabeth) of Lexington; two daughters, Terri Back (Doug) and Vicki Highley (C.D.), both of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren, Wendy Rogers (Eddie) of Mt. Sterling, Scottie Highley (Leslie) of Mt. Sterling and Trey Shoemaker of Louisville; three great grandchildren, Gabe Rogers, Jacob Highley and Hunter Highley, all of Mt. Sterling; special friends, Virgie Wingate (Bobby) of Ohio, Ella Logsdon and Betty Washington, both of Lexington.
The family would also like to give a special thanks to Bluegrass Hospice.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Setters.
Graveside service will be Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 1:30PM at Machpelah Cemetery's Chapel, Visitation will be prior from 1:00PM to 1:30PM. Chaplain Diane Munoz and Pastor Glenn Emery will be officiating.
