Paul W. Sanders, 80, of Mt. Sterling, died Friday morning, January 8, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ballinger, Texas on November 26, 1940 to the late Marvin and Madge Maggard Sanders.
After 2 years at Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, Texas he did ministry in Shreveport, Louisiana and Winchester, Kentucky before moving to Mt. Sterling in 1974. He was the director of Hope Hill Children’s Home for 17 years, the pastor of Camargo Church of God for 10 years, a missionary in Guatemala for 6 years, and as a founding member of Freedom Church he continued to love and serve to the very end of his life.
Paul enjoyed water skiing, traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening, grilling, and spending time with his family. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by so many. His family has great confidence they will see him again in Heaven. He lived his life for the cause of Jesus Christ and is now enjoying the fruit of a life so very well lived. God used him in profound ways to impact countless lives both here and abroad.
Paul is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Lana Sanders; one son; Matt Sanders (Alicia) of Mt. Sterling; one daughter; Mendi Goble (Jerry) of Richmond; daughter-in-law; Shelly Miller Sanders of Owingsville; twelve grandchildren; Taylor Davis (Beth) of Richmond, Hayley Trusty (Scott) of Owingsville, Tori Epperson (Caleb) of Richmond, Wyatt Sanders of Owingsville, Lindsey Sanders of Owingsville, Conner Goble of Richmond, Clay Goble of Richmond, Chase Goble of Richmond, Will Sanders of Mt. Sterling, Olivia Sanders of Owingsville, Nicholas Sanders of Mt. Sterling and Benji Sanders of Mt. Sterling; five great grandchildren; Ryker Davis, Carter Epperson, Rhett Davis, Jace Trusty and Madelyn Epperson.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by one son; Mark Sanders; two brothers; Buck Sanders and Marvin Sanders; three sisters; Virginia Long, Doris Collins and Evalyn Moehnke.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 2:00PM. Visitation will be prior from 11:00AM - 2:00PM. Both will be at Freedom Church, Clay Community Center, 3400 Indian Mound Drive, Mt. Sterling. Pastor Harold Watkins and Pastor VP Palmer will be officiating.
In-lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Freedom Church Building Fund, 644 Maysville Road, Suite 5, Mt. Sterling, KY.
Honorary Pallbearers are Taylor Davis, Scott Trusty, Wyatt Sanders, Caleb Epperson, Will Sanders, Nicholas Sanders, Conner Goble, Clay Goble, Chase Goble and Benji Sanders.
