Phyllis Sue Gayhart

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Phyllis Sue Gayhart, 70, born on December 31, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Johnny and Irene Hollon Esteppe. Phyllis peacefully departed on November 20, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Phyllis, affectionately known for her love of animals and culinary talents as a deli clerk at Walmart, will be remembered for her warm spirit and zest for life. Her passion for cooking was rivaled only by her adoration for travel, particularly to Anna Maria Island, Florida, where she once resided. A proud fan of UK basketball, Phyllis found joy in the Christmas holidays, cherishing moments spent with her family above all else.

Though Phyllis possessed a blunt personality, her compassionate nature shone through in her dedication to caring for others. A true kid at heart, she approached life with a sense of wonder and curiosity that touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Denny Esteppe (Julie Campbell), Angel Yarber, and Jennifer Profitt (Jason); grandchildren, Brooke Esteppe, Johnny Esteppe (Franziska), Kayla Yarber (Matt Fraley), Alyssa Rayburn (Nathan), Trevor Esteppe, Brittany Esteppe, BriAnna Esteppe, Leah Profitt, Connor Profitt, and Rhyker Esteppe; nine great grandchildren.

In addition to Phyllis' parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Jackie Esteppe.

Funeral will be Monday, November 25, 2024 at 12:00PM. Visitation will be prior from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, services at Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory. Pastor Scott Barnes will be officiating.

Phyllis' legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her presence will be deeply missed. May her adventurous spirit and genuine kindness continue to inspire us all as we celebrate her life and the cherished memories we shared with her.
