Ralph Charles, 67, of Jeffersonville, died Monday morning at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lexington. He was born April 3, 1944 in Grundy, Virginia, to the late Earl and Vina Charles.
Ralph moved to Montgomery County 62 years ago from Grundy, Virginia and he retired from road construction. Ralph, enjoyed gardening, fishing, church and visiting people that was sick.
Survivors include; four brothers, Herman Charles of Jeffersonville, David Charles of Mt. Sterling, Everett Charles (Teresa) of Paris, Gary Charles of Jeffersonville; two sisters, Patsy Sparks (Butch) of Jeffersonville and Shirley Montgomery (Greg) of Jeffersonville and a host of nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Charles, Herbert Charles and Luther Charles; two sisters, Mary Ball and Susie Oakley.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a suicide prevention charity, Racing for a Cause, c/o James M. Cain, 2303 Stonewood Lane, Lexington, Kentucky 40509.
Funeral is Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Visitation is Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be at Means Community Miracle Church in Means, Kentucky. Burial will follow at the Mack Cemetery in Frenchburg. Pastor Tommy Evans will be officiating.
Pallbearers are Billy Charles, William Sparks, Michael Charles, Travis Montgomery, Herbert Charles and Dustin Charles.
Honorary Pallbearers are David Charles, Henry Oakley and Joshua Charles.
