Raymond Lee Gibson, 62, of Mt. Sterling, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at his residence following a long illness. He was born November 29, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Edgar and Betty Corning Gibson.
Raymond moved to Montgomery County over twenty years ago from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. While serving, he received distinguished honorable achievements including; Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm. In later years he was employed at Heilig-Meyers in Mt. Sterling as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.
Survivors include; his wife, Margaret Walsh Gibson of Mt. Sterling; two sons, Raymond Lee Gibson, Jr. of Mt. Sterling and John E. Gibson of Sandy Hook; one brother, Thomas Gibson (Christine) of Marion, Ohio; one sister, Peggy Gibson Hall; and ten grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Lynn Mitchell; a brother, Wayne Gibson and a sister, Linda Gibson Broughton.
